Ambleside Lake House

Lovely place to stay centrally located. Beautiful gardens next time well ask for a to floor with a view of the lake!! Very helpful staff we came late to breakfast and they let us in. !! Tysm

I looked at staying somewhere different for this stay in Ambleside, and The Lake House didn't disappoint. There's a steep drive with limited parking, though alternatives are suggested. My room was spacious, and the decoration was in keeping the other hotels, bars, and restaurants in this brand. I stayed in room 50 on the ground floor and had views of the gardens with glimpses of Windermere. Breakfast was served at the Waterhead Inn and can be reached by a walk down through the gardens or the drive. There was a good selection on the menu to order, and I helped myself to coffee, juices, and cereals. For me, it was the location and room that made this a memorable place to stay. The staff team were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful, comfortable room with a lovely view of the garden area (+ Smart TV :-D). It also had plenty of usb and plug sockets. Had a bit of a problem with the booking, but the hotel was very graceful in sorting this out to our advantage. The breakfast offers a large and varied selection of options to help yourself to.

I recently stayed at Ambleside Lake House for one night with a friend and had a lovely experience. The location is peaceful, the building well-presented, and while it’s separate from the main hotel, it still felt warm and welcoming. The room was spotless and the shower was excellent — powerful and consistent, which is something I’ve often found lacking in other hotels. Everything was clean, fresh, and well-maintained. I had booked what I believed was a twin room via Booking.com, but was given a double on arrival. Unfortunately, they were fully booked so no switch was possible. I was told that room preferences are best confirmed directly with the property before arrival — something I’ll make sure to do next time. Overall, despite the minor room mix-up, the staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities were great, and it made for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I’d be happy to return and would recommend it to anyone visiting Ambleside.

A good hotel in a perfect location overlooking lake Windermere. Attached to a popular pub/restaurant which provides a great all you can eat buffet breakfast.

Fabulous stay at the lake house. The Location was ideal. Staff all friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a room on the top floor facing the lake and the views were fabulous. Clean, spacious room. The breakfast included in the deal was lovely lots of choice and all tasted great. Would defiantly recommend! And hopefully return soon!

We have just returned from staying here for my husband’s 40th birthday. We were in room 58 and it was beautiful. Lovely views of the lake, spacious and nicely decorated. The staff at the waterhead inn were all lovely, warm and welcoming. One of the waiters even sat down to play rock paper scissors with our daughter. I really felt they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. The gentleman that checked us in was lovely too and always on hand to make sure we were happy. Breakfast was great, good selection for cold and hot breakfast. We liked the option to skip a room service for a free round of drinks. That was a good touch. I know other reviews stated about it being difficult to cross the road to get to where breakfast was served. I have to say we didn’t find this an issue and was not waiting long to cross. The location was fantastic given that we could get the boat opposite where we were staying and it was a short walk into Ambleside. A fantastic stay and we would stay again. Rooms were very clean too.
